Creating a Culture of Resistance: Punk Rock As A Bridge To Social Change
Organizers of New Direction Fest, a radical punk fest that showcases bands that organize within their community and take action against social injustice, will be discussing a new direction for the punk community in Olympia, WA. A direction that will involve resistance to the status quo, creating networks of solidarity, and building collective power to confront injustice. The panel will draw on punk’s DIY culture and explore ways to use our anger expressed in our music to change the world for the better. After the panel, there will be a punk show in Red Square.
